I went back to the Food Industry

Once upon a time not too long ago, I thought I wanted to be done working with food forever. After 10 years of dealing with food, I thought I wanted to be done. I started fantasizing about a simple and easy job in a boutique. Soon after I’d get off work, I had a stack of resumes in my car and I would drive around to local boutiques to see if they were hiring.

Well, after many attempts I finally found someone interested. I took the job and initially was very excited about it.

But then reality hit. The place was. dead. Deader than dead. And I took a huge pay cut to work there thinking it would be worth it. Man was I in for a rude awakening. I remember one shift I sat behind the counter for 3 hours straight with no customers. It was literally maddening! I was used to hustle and bustle of the food industry and always having something to do but this was a 180 from that.

I tried reading to pass the time. I tried taking up gaming on my phone, but nothing worked. It was just maddeningly slow. I don’t know how people do that job! I only last a month and I couldn't take it anymore. I soon found another coffee shop to work at and while it isn’t perfect, at least I'm not sitting around going crazy with boredom. I will take busy over slow any day honestly.

And that concludes my brief moment working at a boutique. Lesson learned. Tis not for me. I understand now why they say it’s really hard to leave the food industry.
